We shot this video back in January, 2001, when we were helping ASL Productions prototype the Amphibico Amphibian HD Marine Video Housing. The video showcased the 35mm film-like look and feel of 24p high definition video.The three-day shoot took place in Nassau, Bahamas - the same location that was used for the first underwater HD shoot. The video not only helps promote the use of 24p capture, but also helps us to appreciate these beautiful, much maligned creatures.
The end result really speaks for itself. Those unfamiliar with the piece were amazed to realize it's not 35mm film. The saturation, resolution, aspect ratio, and motion blur together create an experience that's rather extraordinary. 24p high definition video creates an emotional response that was - until then - only the domain of film.
The video was used by these companies to show off their technologoes: SONY, Mianda, 2netFX, QuVIS, BandPro, World Wide Packets, Lighthouse Technologies, and others.
